Affiliate Disclosure

How this site is paid for

Every tool on OpenMyHEIC is free, has no account, no watermark and no file limit. The site is paid for in two ways: advertising shown on the pages, and affiliate links in some of our guides. Neither costs you anything, and this page explains both plainly so you can judge our recommendations knowing how they are funded.

Amazon Associates

OpenMyHEIC.com is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.

As an Amazon Associate, OpenMyHEIC earns from qualifying purchases.

In practice: a few of our guides — the ones about transferring photos with a cable, backing them up to an external drive or choosing storage — mention hardware you may need. When we link to Amazon, that link carries a tag that tells Amazon the visit came from here. If you then buy something, Amazon pays us a small commission.

The price you pay is exactly the same whether you use our link or type the address yourself. The commission comes out of Amazon's margin, not your pocket.

What affiliate links do not change

  • We do not accept payment for recommendations. No brand can pay to appear in an article, to rank higher in a comparison, or to be described more favourably than we would otherwise describe it.
  • We link to categories, not to sponsors. Our Amazon links are searches for a type of product (“a portable external SSD”, “an MFi-certified Lightning cable”), not deals struck with a particular manufacturer.
  • Where the honest answer is “you don't need to buy anything”, we say so. Several of our guides exist specifically to tell you that a browser tool or a free Microsoft extension solves your problem, and those articles carry no affiliate links at all.
  • Prices are never quoted in our articles, because they change constantly and a stale price is a misleading one.

Where you will see the disclosure

Any article containing affiliate links states it inside the article, immediately before the first such link, so you see it at the moment it is relevant rather than only on this page. Links to our own tools, to other guides on this site, and to manufacturer or support documentation are never affiliate links.

Advertising

The site also displays advertising served by third parties, including Google AdSense. Those adverts are chosen by the ad network, not by us, and their presence is not an endorsement. How advertising cookies work, and how to opt out of personalised advertising, is covered in our privacy policy.

Editorial independence

Our guides are written and reviewed by the OpenMyHEIC editorial team, verified on real devices, and updated when Apple or Microsoft change how HEIC behaves. If a recommendation stops being the right one, we change it — the affiliate relationship has no vote in that. If you think an article gets something wrong, please tell us; corrections ship quickly.
